This past weekend Greg had new grass planted at the bay house to get it ready to put back on the market. We decided to make a weekend out of it since the weather was perfect and we needed to be there to water the grass for the first few days. For those who don't know, we finished building the house Feb. o7' and moved out there full time in May 07' after I finished teaching. It is apprx. 5 miles South of Kemah and 20 minutes North of Galveston. After almost a year and a half of a LONG commute for Greg, we decided to put it up for sale and in the meantime move back into Houston Galleria area. (where we were living when we met and right after we married) It just so happened that less than 2 weeks after the move, hurricane Ike hit the bay almost directly head on and took the entire garage with it, stairs to get upstairs, all of the landscaping (which Greg worked so hard to maintain and was so pretty), the entire fence, and the homes all around us. We were fortunate to only have to replace replace things below the house and that the entire living space upstairs was not hurt AT ALL! It was still completely livable. Our sweet neighbors who lost everything rented the house for a couple of months after the storm. Now it is time to start getting it ready to put back up for sale and while doing so we plan on enjoying it on pretty weekends until it's gone.

View of the house and new grass. Yay for a new garage underneath!

New grass and fence.

this used to be rows of docks and boathouses...Ike took them.

Flower bed that used to have 2 more palms and lots of pretty plants and flowers. We are NOT replanting anything again. Someone will just have to want to buy it as is!

Porch where we spent the mornings reading and having coffee...well OJ for me! This is the part I miss most about living there and will be sad about once it is gone.

Where I spent the afternoon reading this past weekend. Thank goodness for pretty weather and a good book because we don't have cable, computer, or TV out there anymore! It is kind of nice to just relax with books, sunshine, and boardgames!

excuse the blinding paleness! Jesse loves the sunshine!

this is where our neighbors house was. It has been completely leveled and hauled off...even the concrete slab. so sad.
